Hi everyone :)
As I mentioned in my last post, I spent this weekend at the Osheaga music festival in Montreal. The sun was shining and the music was playing as we caught up with some of our favourite bands. I'll post about my trip in more detail in the coming week, but here are some pictures of the awesome, outrageous, crazy festival fashion that I saw. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

SNAPSHOT INSPIRATION
Hi everyone :) I haven't done a Snapshot Inspiration post in a while, so I thought that I'd share this great snap of my friend Alex. I took this picture a couple of weeks ago when we were downtown and I just love her outfit. Isn't that saturated orange colour amazing! It's so rich and bright, I just want to eat it lol.
I also really like the attention to detail in this outfit. All of the little elements - the string bracelets, the statement necklace, the shiny lace-up shoes - all come together for such a polished look. Well played, my friend, well played. To see more of Alex's style, click here.
Look out for a post and pics of this week's Adventure Thursday on Friday.

AT HOME WITH ... DANIELA
One of my favourite things about Garance Dore's blog (check it out here) is that she photographs people in their own homes. Something about being in your element makes you more relaxed and more natural. The same feeling seems to translate into people's 'at home' style. When people are at home, they dress in whatever makes them feel most comfortable and beautiful. The effect of outside influences like events, locations and other people is dulled and you can really experience their personal style.
I took this picture of my friend Daniela this past weekend after a lovely dinner at her house. Not only does the decor in her living room seem to reflect her unique and elegant style, but the photos capture her the way that I always think of her: laughing and engaged in conversation. Side note: love those wedges! To see more pictures of Daniela's style, click here and here.

SNAPSHOT INSPIRATION
Hey all! I saw this girl walking her dog when I was apartment hunting in Kingston and I just had to stop her and take a picture. Her poor puppy Ozzie was not so thrilled about being in the photo - he kept trying to get out of the shot lol! Her fabulous hair and red lipstick were the first things that caught my eye. It wasn't until I we started talking that I noticed her amazing shoes!! I love how she styled her red leather combat boots!

I really love this outfit that my friend Alex wore while we were in New York last month. The different colours and textures go so nicely together - the light grey pea coat, the grey knit scarf (which she made herself!!), the brown leather gloves and the dark-wash jeans. Brilliant!

Here's another great shot of Daniela. I took this picture during our New York Trip (read about our adventure here) while we were waiting to listen to the gospel choir at Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem. This picture really goes to show that you don't have to sacrifice style for warmth!
Special thanks to Alex, who managed to snap a picture of me while I was taking pictures of Daniela. It's a little photography love triangle :)

SNAPSHOT INSPIRATION
Hello :) I hope that everyone a great weekend. As promised I'm putting together a post about my trip to New York, but I still have to organize all of my photos so it'll be up tomorrow or the next day. In the meantime, here's a great picture that I took at the Golden Theatre on Broadway. I was there to see Seminar with Alan Rickman (side note: it was very funny and the acting was amazing - definitely worth seeing if you're in the area!). I was waiting in the monstrously long line for the ladies washroom when I noticed this girl's amazing style. I love that her nose ring and earring are connected!

FAMILY FASHION
Hello everyone :) Yesterday, I went to see Handel's Messiah with my parents at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. The music was performed by the very talented Toronto Symphony Orchestra. It was such a good show - the alto and soprano were both really amazing and the chorus was enormous! There are still some dates left, so if you're in the area I would definitely suggest checking it out (click here).
We grabbed our old camera on the way out the door, so the pictures are pretty grainy, but you get the idea. I didn't have very much time to get ready after work, so I went for something simple and classic. The weather was rainy and cool, so I wore a long black peacoat with opaque tights and boots to keep warm and dry. Ideally, I would have liked to wear my black leather pumps, but I didn't want to sit with wet feet for two hours. I finally got the opportunity to wear my new hat from Forever 21 - woo!
Although you can't see it, I wore a high-waisted bronze skirt with a black v-neck sweater underneath. I want to do a holiday clothing post, so I'll save that outfit for then.
My parents were looking extra dapper yesterday! My dad was finally able to wear these great dark-brown trousers again (he had surgery and the waistline rubs against his scar) and he paired them with a cinnamon-coloured sweater with a shallow v-neck. He also wore his black pea coat to keep the rain off - I really love this coat, it's so nicely cut! I especially like the exaggerated collar.
My mom continued our family pea coat trend with her red number :) I featured this coat in my "Building a Wardrobe: Outerwear" post (see it here). The cut is ultra-flattering, since it nips in at the waist and then drifts away from the body, stopping mid-thigh. My mom wore it over a black skirt and opaque tights with dark brown leather boots. Guess it must run in the family :) I can only hope that my legs look that good at 48!
Wishing you musical adventures!

SNAPSHOT INSPIRATION
Following along with the theme of holiday nails, I took this picture of my friend Alyssa's festive green polish. The perfect pop of colour for winter outfits!
I start working again today after taking time off to study for my LSAT. I'm going to be helping out in the office (I work for a catering company) during the Christmas rush, so I'll have lots of office-appropriate outfits to share with you guys over the next few weeks.
I also found out today that my parents and I are going to see Handel's Massiah next week, which is super exciting! It's an oratorio (like an opera without the acting part) composed in the 18th century. You've probably heard the piece "Hallelujah" from it before. If not, give it a listen here :)

Tonight I went into Toronto for my friend's birthday and it seemed like everybody was wearing fabulous shoes. I took these pictures in the subway on the way there. I especially love the mismatched Converse.

I just re-watched Bridesmaids for the first time since it hit theatres and I have to say it's still hilarious. Kudos to Kristen Wiig for co-writing and starring in the kind of movie that proves that chick flicks can be as funny, raunchy, sexy and vaguely gross as bromances like The Hangover. Melissa McCarthy also deserves a shout-out for her unflinching performance as Megan, the tell-it-like-it-is bestie that every girl needs.
In terms of fashion, I love what Wiig wore to the 2011 Glamour Awards. Generally speaking, mustard is not an easy colour to pull off. Nevertheless, Wigg's choice of lipstick and her copper accents really pull this whole look together. The colour is great against her fair skin and the draping is figure-flattering. I could do without the bronze shoes, but all in all this is outfit is pretty stunning. The prefect choice for the Emmy-nominated, SNL vet!

This is what my friend Allison wore out for drinks yesterday. Definitely a great example of how to do (but not overdo) military-inspired clothing. She found these amazing shoes at a Timberland in Cyprus (find a similar pair here).

Hi everyone :) This picture shows my father making a snowball outside his childhood home in Toronto. It's stamped March 21st, 1967 - brrrr, long Canadian winters!! I love the 60s-style winter coat and his shiny black shoes. Get well soon Daddy!

I am loving the work of current Project Runway contestant Anya Ayoung-Chee. Her use of prints and her flowy, feminine silhouettes are fun and youthful. The former Miss Trinidad and Tobago is definitely someone to keep our eyes on!

SNAPSHOT INSPIRATION
This little snapshot shows my paternal grandmother, Maria, who immigrated from Greece as a teenager. As a joke, my grandfather and my dad snuck up with a camera while her hands were busy mixing bread and tried to snap a shot of her in a paper robin hood hat. The picture caught the last second before she tipped it off her head.

SNAPSHOT INSPIRATION
For my first "snapshot inspiration" post I thought I would show this picture of my amazing friend Daniela. Not only does Daniela have a very developed sense of personal style, she also has the ability to spot statement pieces in any location (box store, market, vintage shop) and integrate them seamlessly into her existing wardrobe.
This picture was taken when Daniela was on vacation in Colombia. I love the way that she wears a bold necklace in a relaxed and casual way, making it suitable for everyday wear. Genius!
